HACKNEY WICKED!

Hackney Wicked! is the third book in my trilogy about East London life, the first and second being Jowe's House and Pop-Urban. This time around, I opted to illustrate scenes from the canal life on and around the Lee Navigation which runs through Hackney Wick and Hackney Marshes. 

The photographs from which the images were made were taken in 2021 when I was resident in Hackney Wick, but due to a busy lifestyle and much travelling around, I did not in fact commence the project until 2025 nor complete it until 2026. 

The paintings are executed using matt acrylic paints and paint pens, as well as UV pigments and pens and pencil detail. It's interesting to see the progress from my previous books and observe how I've progressed in my experimentation. Given some of my experiences, I was more liable to take a flying leap of faith with my work!
